Councils in Wales are all this week marking Youth Work Week by thanking the nation’s youth workers.

Youth Work Week is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the impact and diversity of youth work across Wales; with the aims to promote a wider understanding of and support for youth work.

Councillor Ian Roberts, WLGA Spokesperson for Education commented:

“Having been a teacher myself, I know just how much young people benefit from having a supportive and nurturing network around them. Youth workers form a key part of that network, by enhancing young lives and encouraging them to reach their full potential.

“Youth Work is an incredibly rewarding career path and provides a range of benefits that can improve the prospects and lives of the next generation. It helps young people to develop holistically, socially and builds young people’s confidence, self-esteem, and identity.

“Never has their work been more important than over the challenging past year, and I would like to thank them all for their enormous contribution in such difficult times.”
