Dedicated youth workers from all over Wales will be recognised at an awards ceremony in Deganwy this evening (Friday 28 June) as part of this year’s Youth Work Week.

Now in their 25th year, the awards are an opportunity to give thanks to those talented workers who work with young people to help them thrive and reach their full potential.

The ceremony will bookend a week full of events held across Wales to celebrate and showcase the important role of youth work in our communities.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Councillor Debbie Wilcox (Newport), WLGA Spokesperson for Education said:

“I would like to congratulate all nominated for an award, and also to thank all youth workers for their tireless dedication and contribution.”

“Having worked with young people myself as teacher of 35 years, I know first-hand how a young person’s life is enhanced by having a good network around them to encourage and support them. Youth workers play a vital and central role in that network, and bring the best out of young people to help them reach their potential.”
