The WLGA is today congratulating its Leader, Councillor Andrew Morgan, and the Presiding Officer, Councillor Huw David, who have both been recognised with an OBE in this year’s Queen Birthday Honours.

Chris Llewelyn, Chief Executive of WLGA said:

“Local government is full of dedicated public servants, and we are delighted to see Councillor Andrew Morgan and Councillor Huw David being recognised for their tireless work.

“Over the last two years, Andrew has led the Association in his own energetic, inclusive and firm style. As Presiding Officer, Huw has been integral in bringing the 22 councils together to work collaboratively during what was an exceptionally challenging period for local government. The contribution of all council leaders during the COVID response simply cannot be overstated.

“Both Andrew and Huw typify the steely resolve, pragmatism, and accessibility which are hallmarks of modern councillors. On behalf of the WLGA, we warmly congratulate them both on their well-deserved honours.”
